Backlinking
Back linking is easily the most powerful strategy you can use for SEO.
In a local market it isn’t necessary to have 5000 backlinks. And indeed you will attract attention if you suddenly have this many overnight.
Like most things there’s a footprint of what an “average” local business site looks like. Typically a normal site in a micro-niche has between 100-200 backlinks.
You don’t need more than this (and having 2000 backlinks will only make your site appear suspicious!) Robert advocates going for quality over quantity. For example getting a contextual link from a highly ranked and highly trusted source beats a spammy, unrelated site.
Like a normal business site would, build up your backlinks gradually and not overnight. Between one to two months is realistic.
Get your site indexed – via back linking from variety of different sources.
Keep in mind that creating more than 100 backlinks to your site in the first month won’t make it rank any faster. (We know this from personal experience.)
And remember that there is a big difference between being on the front page of Google and being number one.
A good indicator to see if you can achieve the highly sought after number one position is to see if you get on the front page of Google within the first two weeks.
If this is the case then this is usually a good sign you’ve got a clear shot to moving up to number one.
